I’ve learned from living on the East Coast for almost 4 years that coats are really your best friends for half the year. Growing up in California, I was in a bit of shock when I first moved to New York where the weather doesn’t just drop from 80° to 70° in the winter. My first December here I invested in my Canada Goose Parka (which I would recommend every East Coast resident own because... warmth). Through my four winters I have continued to collect not only similar luxury outerwear pieces but also some more affordable ones.

Get The Look
One of my favorite outerwear pieces would have to be the trench coat. While not as warm as a down jacket or fur coat, trench coats can be layered on top of other pieces and really keep you warm and stylish. So many people, guys especially, think that just one outerwear piece is all they need for the colder seasons. On a practical level this is true, but through my time in New York I learned that no matter how many new shirts, pants, and sweaters I owned it would always look like I was wearing the same thing because I had on the same outerwear. Building a collection of nice outerwear pieces is key to staying fresh and looking good through the colder months.
